Medeama SC head coach, Nebojsa Kapor, has expressed frustration over the poor condition of football pitches in Ghana following his team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Matchday 2 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

Mamudu Kamaradin's first-half goal secured the win for Medeama, but Kapor was more concerned about the subpar playing conditions. The Bosnia and Herzegovina coach criticized the state of the pitches, calling for urgent improvements to football infrastructure across the country.

"Like Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Accra and Cape Coast stadia, the Legon Stadium is also in bad condition," Kapor stated after the match. "The pitches in Ghana should be better. There is a lot of room for improvement."

Medeama SC, currently top of the Premier League standings, are set to face Basake Holy Stars on September 27 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium.

Kapor’s comments come amid growing concerns about Ghana’s football facilities, highlighted by the recent ban of the Baba Yara Stadium by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The Black Stars will now be forced to play their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan on neutral ground due to the stadium's poor playing surface.
