Former Asante Kotoko defender Samuel Inkoom has expressed his desire to return to the club before retiring from professional football.
Inkoom, currently without a club after his contract with Hearts of Oak expired at the end of the 2022/23 season, hopes for the opportunity to play for Asante Kotoko once more.
Inkoom, speaking on Fox FM, shared his wish to rejoin the club where he began his career. He stated, "I have always said that I will play for Kotoko again before I retire. It is my wish. I signed one year with Hearts of Oak, and now the contract has ended. But I wish to play for Kotoko again before I quit the game."
Samuel Inkoom initially joined Asante Kotoko in 2008, transferring from Sekondi Hasaacas. In April 2009, he left the club to join FC Basel in the Swiss Super League on a three-year deal. During his tenure at Asante Kotoko, Inkoom contributed to the team's success, helping them win the 2007/2008 Ghana Premier League season, the 2008 President's Cup, and the 2008 SWAG Cup.
Inkoom has an impressive international history, having played for the Black Satellites in the 2009 African Youth Championship in Rwanda, which they won. He was also part of the Black Satellites team that secured the U-20 World Cup by defeating Brazil in a penalty shootout in 2009.
The defender made his debut for the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, in November 2008 against Tunisia. Throughout his international career, he accumulated 44 caps and scored one goal while playing as a right-back.
