Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC have confirmed their withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League, as reported earlier in the traditional media.

This is due to the unfortunate incidents that transpired in their match-day 19 fixture against giants Asante Kotoko over the weekend at the Nana Koramansah II Park.

Series of incidents happened with some players of both teams engaging in serious exchanges and fights in the early stages of the second half with some supporters involved as well.

The chaos continued even off the pitch and eventually led to the sad killing of die-hard Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong, famously known as 'Nana Pooley', who was stabbed to death behind the stadium while the game was ongoing.

The issue has really sparked huge controversy in the country and has been the topic for discussions so far with three people currently in Police custody including Nsoatreman FC bank-roller Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah.

Speaking in an interview, Nsoatreman FC Spokesperson Joel Kofi Gyempeh has confirmed they have withdrawn from the league and added that their decision won't stop the police from carrying on with their investigations as they feel it is the right thing to do at this crucial moment.

"It's true, our withdrawal from the league wouldn't prevent the investigations from going on. Currently, investigations are going on and we've left everything in the hands of the Police Service," Gyempeh said.

"I think there wouldn't be any moral right for us to continue with it again and there's another twist, the deceased is married to the sister of our club chairman…so he's feeling the pain," he added.

The match-day 20 matches has been postponed by the Ghana FA to allow for investigations to go on and as to why the league will continue or not has still not been confirmed yet.
