Ghanaian heavyweights Asante Kotoko have announced the departure of eleven (11) players by mutual consent after the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors have decided to terminate the service of players, who underperformed in the recently ended season while others are leaving following the expiration of their contracts.
Asante Kotoko is shaking off the dust of a disappointing Ghana Premier League campaign, with a major squad overhaul underway as they prepare for the 2024/25 season.
Following a sixth-place finish in the domestic top-flight league, the Porcupines have parted ways with 11 players to make way for new additions.
The list of departing players includes some notable names, including captain Danlad Ibrahim and Georges Mfegue, whose contracts have expired. Ugandan international striker Steven Desse Mukwala is also leaving after failing to extend his deal.
Former WAFA defender John Tedeku who arrived at the club in 2022 on a four-year contract will no longer be part of the Asante Kotoko family according to the club's official statement.
Cameronian striker George Mfegue, Ibrahim Danlad, Isaac Oppong, Augustine Agyapong and Eric Serge Zeze, who hails from Ivory Coast are also leaving the club following the expiration of their respective contracts.
The list also includes Kalo Ouattara, who arrived at the Kumasi-based club from Berekum Chelsea prior to the start of the 2023-24 season.
Two defenders namely Nicholas Osei Bonsu and Sheriff Mohammed have also been released with Nicholas Mensah who missed the 2022/23 due to suspension by the Ghana Football Association over fake registration.
