Orlando Wellington, head coach of Accra Great Olympics, disclosed the unwavering determination that propelled his team to a victory against Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.

The Dade boys secured a crucial win at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, boosting their chances of survival in the league.

Midfielder Raymond Grippman’s 43rd-minute header sealed the narrow victory, showcasing the club’s resilience.

Wellington emphasized the team’s preparation and strength, highlighting their focused approach to securing maximum points against a formidable opponent like Kotoko.

“It’s about how determined we were. I know the kind of preparation we went through before this very match and this was a match which was on top of my heart so I am thanking God that we came out successfully to win 1-0 against a team like Kumasi Asante Kotoko,” he told StarTimes in a post-match interview.

“We don’t really rely so much in building from the back because we have players who can run and also have enough strength so we played to our strength,” he added.

While the victory offers hope in their relegation battle, Olympics now set their sights on a crucial showdown against city rivals Hearts of Oak, aiming to secure their league status.
