Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara has disregarded the claims of winning the league next season and added his main target is to escape relegation.
The 'Phobians' had a very shambolic campaign having struggled throughout and had to rely on final day comeback win over Bechem United to secure survival.
With this, coach Aboubakar Ouattara is looking to strengthen his squad before the new season commences having already signed four new players so far; goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Samuel Amofa and former Nations FC duo Asamoah Boateng Afriyie and Michael Awuah Mensah.
In a recent interview, the experienced tactician made it very clear that his aim is to help set up a good squad in order not to battle for relegation again.
"My target is to ensure we don't battle relegation next season. The supporters always want us to win, and any big team is expected to compete for trophies. But for now, our main focus is to build a solid team and avoid the relegation zone."
"In football, fan agitation is normal. Man proposes, but God disposes. For instance, Wydad Casablanca and ASEC Mimosa, who are typically strong teams, have faced crises and failed to qualify for continental competitions. We need to focus on stability and gradual improvement. I can't guarantee a trophy next season, but I am committed to building a team that can compete and stay clear of relegation."
Hearts of Oak recently lost the maiden Democracy Cup to bitter rivals Asante Kotoko and will very soon regroup again to prepare for the upcoming season.
