Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has voiced his concern regarding the persistently low attendance at Ghana Premier League matches, acknowledging an ongoing challenge in the country's top-flight football landscape.
In an interview addressing the issue, Minister Ussif underscored the longstanding problem of poor turnout, noting its continuation into the current season and expressing apprehension about the declining attendance observed across various stadiums.
To tackle this issue and reinvigorate interest in the league, the Minister disclosed plans for collaboration with the Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA).
One proposed solution involves deploying National Service Personnel to aid clubs in enhancing branding efforts and creating compelling content aimed at attracting more spectators to the stadiums.
With a firm resolve to address the problem, Minister Ussif stressed the significance of this initiative, anticipating its positive impact on bolstering attendance and ultimately benefiting the league as a whole.
"I am concerned about the low attendance levels at Ghana Premier League matches, but discussions with Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA) have been initiated to provide assistance through National Service Personnel to aid clubs with content and other aspects," he stated in an interview with Asempa FM.
"We have just begun this initiative, and we believe it will yield the desired benefits in the long run," he added.
