The 32-year-old tactician has admitted that his side “did not put in a good performance” as they slipped to a 2-0 loss to Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League on Thursday afternoon.
Asante Kotoko stop-gap coach Abdulai Gazale believes the inconsistent performance from his charges in the ongoing season has ended their Premier League title defending dreams.
He said in an interview with StarTimes after Great Olympics that winning the top-flight league title has become a difficult task because of his players' poor performance in recent games.
First half goals from Michael Osei and Emmanuel Akesseh aided struggling Accra Great Olympics to recorded a convincing home win over the Porcupine Warriors in the match-week 28 game at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.
Asante Kotoko failed to make it into the top-four by closing the gap on league leaders to five points following the away defeat to Great Olympics.
Gazale also expressed his disappointment at the attitude of Asante Kotoko players for their uninspiring performance in the away fixtures.
“Looking at the awful performance and attitude of the players. I wouldn't be fair to myself and the fans by promising them the league title,” Gazale told StarTimes TV after the game
“Because anytime we plan of securing points from our opponents at their home venue, we end up giving away the points. We can't continue to play like this and expect to finish on top of the league table”
Asante Kotoko will welcome Tamale City to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the Ghana Premier League match-week 29 on Sunday.
