Hearts of Oak midfielder Glid Jeordon Otanga Mvouo has expressed his joy following his team's victory over Heart of Lion in the Ghana Premier League, extending their unbeaten streak to eight games.
The Congolese international played a pivotal role as the Phobians came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Lions in the week 22 fixture on Monday.
Mustapha Yakubu opened the scoring for Bashir Hayford's side with a spectacular free-kick in the first half. However, Hearts of Oak quickly turned the tide after the break, with midfielder Salim Adams equalizing with a powerful header from Martin Karikari's free-kick delivery.
Reflecting on the hard-fought victory, Mvouo expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, especially their resilience in the face of adversity.
"We are happy for this victory. They scored against us in the first half, but we entered the game with a warrior spirit to turn things around. Despite a challenging first half, our coach encouraged us to give our all in the second half, and we managed to secure the win," remarked Mvouo.
The Phobians have transformed into a formidable force in the ongoing campaign after overcoming a slow start to the league season. Under the guidance of coach Aboubakar Ouattara, who joined the club before the start of the second round, Hearts of Oak have enjoyed a resurgence, winning three matches and drawing two in their last five games.
With 11 points accumulated from a possible 15 in the second half of the domestic top-flight season, the Ghanaian giants have climbed to 7th place in the league standings, level on points with rivals Asante Kotoko.
The victory against Heart of Lion underscores Hearts of Oak's determination to compete at the highest level and their aspirations for success in the Ghana Premier League.
