2022 FIFA World Cup continues with a crunchy Group H fixture between Ghana and Portugal on Thursday afternoon at the Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud, Doha.

The Black Stars missed out in the last edition, and will anticipate to surpass their best record of making the quarter final stage in 2010 in South Africa.

The Selecao on the hand,  are yet to have their hands gripped on the prestigious trophy- a tasked the current stars will look to achieve in this year's edition.

The last World Cup encounter between both teams ended 2-1 for Portugal, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's second half strike in Brasilia.

Ghana despite a shaky run managed to finish as winners of their group in the first phase of the qualifiers ahead of South Africa, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.

They proceeded to the playoff round against West African neighbours and sworn rivals Nigeria- a double tie which ended in a draw but Ghana had the nod in the end due to away goal rule.

However, the 2016 European champions weren't that impressive in the qualifiers, having dropped to playoffs after finishing second behind Serbia in their group.

They moved on with resounding 3-1 and 2-0 victories over Turkey and North Macedonia respectively to book a ticket to Qatar, marking their seventh appearance.

Ghana just recently lost to Brazil in an international friendly but redeemed themselves with a slim triumph over Nicaragua, before wrapping up their preparations with an inspiring performance to beat Switzerland 2-0 last Thursday in Abu Dhabi.

Fernando Santos men, struggled in their last two  Uefa Nations League matches, losing to both Spain and Switzerland but annihilated Nigeria last week to exhibit their readiness for today's game.
