Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s dominant 5-0 victory over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will lift the Black Stars’ confidence as they push for a spot in the tournament.
Ghana had struggled to find the net in recent games, scoring just three times in their last six matches—a poor run that contributed to their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Friday’s emphatic win at the Accra Sports Stadium signaled a return to attacking form.
“I feel like we’ve got goal scorers in the team. We just need to get into the right positions, and we’ve done that today. Scoring five goals is a confidence booster,” Semenyo said after the match.
The Black Stars started strongly, with Semenyo scoring just two minutes in. Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah added to the tally in a commanding display.
Ghana controlled possession, created numerous chances, and showed a level of attacking sharpness that had been lacking in recent outings.
With this result, Ghana moves to the top of Group I in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Otto Addo’s side now turns its attention to Monday’s crucial clash against Madagascar, where they will look to maintain their momentum.
