Former national team captain Geremi Njitap, who has 119 caps under his sleeves for the Indomitable Lions, has officially announced legal action against Samuel Eto’o, the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
Indeed, in the face of an unfavorable ruling handed down in early April by the Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC), Njitap isn’t backing down. As president of the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (Synafoc), he is demanding official recognition of the organization he leads and his right to sit on the Fecafoot board.
Njitap and Synafoc institute legal proceedings
In a statement signed by Synafoc’s secretary general, Blaise Daniel Ngas, the union—chaired by Geremi Njitap—categorically rejects the ruling and announces its intention to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.
“Despite the dismissal of Fecafoot’s arguments, Synafoc was deemed not justified in seeking the annulment of the contested resolutions,” the statement laments.
The union is appealing to its members to remain calm and confident as they await the outcome of this legal showdown.
