Former Ghana Premier League top-scorer, Abednego Tetteh has given his on take on Asante Kotoko’s qualification chances against Moroccan giants Wydad AC and believes it’s highly impossible even he will be should they advance.
He made these remarks mainly based on how strong these North Africans are in the CAF inter-club competitions especially playing them away from home.
The Red Castles emerged victors in the first leg with a narrow 0-1 against the Porcupine Warriors last Sunday, October 19, in a very fascinating game at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Congolese international Joseph Bakasu Banka scored a beauty in the early stages of the second department to secure the win for the travelers in the end.
Speaking on Accra-based Radio Gold, the former Hearts of Oak and Al Hilal forward admitted Asante Kotoko stand no chance in the game especially after losing the first leg on home soil
“I don’t think they [Kotoko] have a chance, I have played against Etoile du Sahel and hours before the game, the stadium was filled to rafters and if you have not seen such fans before, you will be jittery.
“And most of our players [in Ghana] are inexperienced and that is why I support clubs like Bibiani Gold Stars, Samartex and Aduana because they sign experienced players.
“However Hearts of Oak and Kotoko have too many young players and that goes against them so I am not sure Kotoko can survive but if they are able to survive I will be happy.”
The return leg is scheduled for today, October 24, at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca at 19:00GMT (7:00pm) with the winner of this tie advancing to the group phase of the competition.
