Former Asante Kotoko forward Charles Taylor has offered a brutally honest take ahead of the club’s CAF Confederation Cup second-leg clash with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.
Kotoko head to Casablanca needing a big performance to overturn their first-leg setback in Accra, but Taylor believes the Porcupine Warriors are simply not equipped to challenge the North African side at that level.
“Asante Kotoko’s journey to Morocco is just a travelling experience for the players but not to beat WAC,” Taylor said.

The ex-Black Stars attacker suggested that the gulf in quality, maturity and continental experience between Kotoko and Wydad makes a comeback highly unlikely.
Taylor, however, stopped short of outright discouragement. He insisted that the trip still holds value, not competitively, but educationally.
He urged the Kotoko players to treat the match as a chance to learn from a side that has regularly featured in CAF’s advanced stages and holds multiple continental titles.
Despite Taylor’s blunt analysis, the Kotoko dressing room remains upbeat. The squad and technical team have publicly stated their confidence and believe they can produce a special performance in Casablanca.
