Ignatius Osei-Fosu has stated qualifying Sudan to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is a very great achievement as they have given the locals some level of hope and believe.
The enterprising tactician serves as assistant to head coach Kwesi Appiah, with both been in charge of the Falcons of Jediane for over a year now.
The 1970 African champions despite a very shaky on and off AFCON qualifiers campaign still managed to qualify having done it alongside Angola in Group F with eight points; having won, drawn and lost two each from six matches.
In an interview with 3Sports, Ignatius admitted securing a World Cup spot for Sudan is now their next target but feels failure to do so won't mean they ain't good as AFCON qualification alone is an enough achievement.
"I see qualifying for the AFCON as a greater achievement than securing a World Cup slot. It will never be a failure on our part should we fail to qualify for the World Cup. At least we gave them some belief and hope,” he told 3Sports.
Sudan are currently leading Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 10 points after four games and will face Senegal in March next year.
