Kudus Mohammed has praised the influence of Ajax in his development after officially completing his big-money move to West Ham United.
The 23-year-old who was officially unveiled on Sunday after signing a five-year deal with the Hammers.
Kudus is expected to be handed a unique role as a starter in West Ham after manager David Moyes primary objective is to strengthen his forward line.
The Ghanaian had multiple conversations with a couple of people before deciding to join the Hammers after Moyes identified him as an attainable direct goal threat.
“The most significant thing is developing young talents and then, obviously, selling them for the next level. Of course, they want to win trophies and stuff like that, but mostly the aim is to build talent and then get them ready for the next step. So, for me, I felt that was a perfect middle step for me to take before taking another step. So, when the opportunity came, it just didn't take a lot of time to think about it because there was an organization that I wanted to be in because I felt, even after Denmark, there's some part of my game that I need to learn to play in Europe and the Champions League and do stuff and I'm going to experience that in Ajax, so it was easy for me to decide," Kudus told West Ham media when asked about Ajax Academy and how's it like being a part of it.
Kudus says working under Erik ten Hag and Michael Reiziger was an exceptional learning point for him.
“When I was there [Ajax], it was Erik ten Hag and also Michael Reiziger. It’s more about performance than results, and I believe that's the best way to develop. It's not just about the result, it's about developing as a player, and really, the style of play really fits how I want to play, with more focus on the technical and tactical part of the game, so it was a perfect learning experience over there.”
