English Championship side Coventry City have announced the signing of Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante from rivals West Bromwich Albion in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old striker, who can also play on the wing, has signed a four-year deal with the Sky Blues after the agreement of an undisclosed fee with the Baggies.

Coventry City beat off competitions from fellow Championship side Hull City to secure the signature of the Black Stars centre-forward ahead of the 2024–25 season's campaign.

The club's official statement reads: “Coventry City are delighted to announce the signing of Brandon Thomas-Asante from West Bromwich Albion!”

Thomas-Asante began his career with hometown side Milton Keynes Dons, where he made his professional debut aged in 2016 aged 17. After spells on loan with Sutton United and Oxford City, he left Milton Keynes in 2019 having made 35 appearances.

After a brief spell at Ebsfleet United, Brandon joined Salford City in League Two where he flourished – playing 126 games and scoring 30 goals, and winning the EFL Trophy.

His form at Salford earned a move to West Bromwich Albion in the Championship at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. Playing as a striker, Thomas-Asante was the top goalscorer in both of his two seasons at West Brom – scoring 9 and then 12 goals in the 22/23 and 23/24 seasons respectively. In total he played 78 games for the Hawthorns side.

Thomas-Asante made his debut for the senior national team of Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi in March 2024.
