The Mendizorrotza Stadium outfit have secured the services of the budding talented midfielder in a deal until the summer of 2027, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

Spanish La Liga club Deportivo Alavés completed the signing of Ghanaian teenager Henry Opoku on a three-year contract on the summer transfer deadline day.

Opoku, who featured for Ghanaian lower-tier side Atlanta Royals Academy, arrived in Spain last weekend to finalize his sensational move to the the Blue and Whites lads.

The 18-year-old signed a contract to keep him at the club until 2027 after passing a mandatory medical examination. His move from Ghanaian side Atlanta Royals Academy to the Spanish La Liga club was facilitated by a renowned football management firm, ARG Football Agency.

Kickgh.com understands that the talented defensive midfielder has been drafted into Deportivo Alavés B, the second team of the La Liga club, as part of his development to climb his football career's ladder.

Opoku was one of the highly-rated midfielders in last season's Ghanaian Division Two League following his sterling performances for Atlanta Royals Academy in the Greater Accra Region zone.

The Spanish football is the new destination for Ghanaian talents following the steps of players like Thomas Partey, who featured predominantly for Atletico Madrid before leaving to join Arsenal in England, Emmanuel Boateng, Bernard Mensah, Mubarak Wakaso, Isaac Amoah, Sabit Abdulai, Salisu Mohammed, Emmanuel Boateng, and the late Raphael Dwamena among others are some players who recently left marks in the European country.

Currently, Baba Iddrisu of CD Almeria, Rayo Vallencano defender Abdul Mumin, and Valencia youngster Ali Fadal, Real Oviedo's Kwasi Sibo, Oscar Naasei Oppong of Granada are the notable Ghanaian footballers playing in the Spanish La Liga and La Liga 2.

The just-ended summer transfer window saw Accra Lions young left-back David Oduro sealing a historic transfer move to FC Barcelona ‘B’ while Real Betis signed 18-year-old Kwame Sosu Junior from Ghanaian third-tier club Desidero FC. 

Celta Vigo also announced the signing of Asante Kotoko young winger Bernard Somuah on a season-long loan deal.
