OFK Beograd midfielder Edmund Addo is enjoying a stellar season in the Serbian Superliga, describing the moment as a “special” one for him and his teammates.
The Ghana international was part of the starting XI for the tenth time on Saturday afternoon, Addo helped OFK Beograd to a 4-3 triumph over IMT Novi Beograd as he came flying out of the blocks with an impressive 72-minute showing, expressing his pride to feature for the side currently occupying the second spot on the league standing and highlighting the impact of their coach in spurring his side to a respectable position.
"No, I did not expect the club to be at this position at the moment. But it's also not a surprise to me. I'm saying this because, on paper, when a club gets promoted to the top-tier league, most of the time the expectations are that they will fight to avoid relegation," Addo said.
"I'm not surprised about our performance and results because individually every player is giving his maximum both in training and in games.
"As a collective, we're committed to listening to the coach and implementing his strategy on the pitch. The coach is a very good man-manager, so there's unity and singleness of purpose among the playing body and the management. That's why we're performing above expectations."
