Ghanaian forward Elvis Amoh played a pivotal role in Detroit City FC's thrilling 2-2 draw against Charleston Battery in the USL Championship on Saturday night.
Amoh's game-changing performance came after he was subbed on at the start of the second half at Patriots Point, in front of 4,610 spectators.
Detroit City FC took control of the match early in the second half. Stephen Carroll opened the scoring in the 49th minute, with Alex Villanueva providing the assist. Just eight minutes later, Connor Rutz doubled the lead for Detroit with a well-placed strike, giving the visitors a commanding advantage.
However, Charleston Battery fought back, with Nick Markanich converting a penalty in the 73rd minute to reduce the deficit. Juan Torres then equalized for the hosts with a goal in the 84th minute, setting up a tense finish.
In stoppage time, Elvis Amoh's moment of brilliance came when he delivered a precise assist to Laurent Kissiedou, who netted the dramatic equalizer in the 90+3rd minute. Amoh's late contribution secured a vital point for Detroit City FC in a tightly contested match.
Detroit City FC will next face Indy Eleven on October 12th as they look to build on their resilient performance.
