Italian-born Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban could be set to extend his stay at Genoa CFC, with reports indicating the Serie A side are in discussions to renew his contract until 2028.
The 31-year-old, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, has spent much of his professional career in Italy since signing his first contract with AC Chievo Verona in 2012. Over the years, he has featured for several Italian clubs, including loan spells at FC Südtirol, AC Lumezzane, and AC Renate, before establishing himself at Genoa.
Ekuban has also gained international experience, turning out for FK Partizani Tirana in Albania, Leeds United in England, and Trabzonspor in Turkey prior to joining Genoa five seasons ago.
Since arriving, he has made 117 appearances in all competitions, contributing 11 goals and 11 assists. With Genoa currently sitting 15th in Serie A, just three points above the relegation zone, the club views Ekuban’s experience as vital in their fight for survival.
Having won only one of their last five league matches, Genoa will look to the Ghanaian forward’s leadership and attacking presence to help steady the ship and secure their top-flight status.
