Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is planning to retire at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The 35-year-old recently signed a contract extension with Hertha Berlin, prolonging his stay with the club beyond the expiration of his previous deal this summer.
However, Boateng has decided not to further extend his contract once it concludes next summer.
Boateng played a crucial role in helping Hertha Berlin secure their Bundesliga status for the upcoming season by defeating Hamburg in the play-offs.
Having started his football journey in Hertha Berlin's academy at the age of seven, Boateng progressed through the ranks and made his senior team debut in 2005.
He went on to feature in 53 matches for the club before transferring to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in 2007.
Throughout his career, Boateng has represented various clubs including Genoa, AC Milan (where he won the Serie A title in 2011), Schalke 04, Las Palmas, Eintracht Frankfurt, Sassuolo, and Barcelona.
He also had stints with Fiorentina, Besiktas, and Monza before returning to Hertha Berlin in 2021.
