Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman has spoken of his excitement after completing a loan switch to Birmingham City for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, describing the move as a major step forward in his European career.
The 21-year-old joins the Blues from Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion, following a first-half loan spell with Ligue 1 side Auxerre.
Renowned for his electric pace, strength and direct attacking play, Osman becomes Birmingham City’s third signing of the January transfer window.
“I can’t wait to get started,” Osman said after completing the move.
“Birmingham City is one of the big teams in England, and I’m really excited to get on the pitch and make the fans happy.”
The young forward made it clear that he is eager to contribute immediately as Birmingham push on in the Championship.
“I want to help the team as much as possible — to win games, score goals, provide assists and help the team succeed,” he added.
Osman revealed that discussions with head coach Chris Davies and the club’s sporting leadership played a decisive role in his decision to join the Blues.
“Speaking with the coach and the sporting director, and seeing that the club has just qualified from League One with a lot of points, you can clearly see the ambition,” he explained.
“The manager has been watching many of my games. He knows my style — I’m a direct winger, I attack defenders and I have speed.”
The loan move presents Osman with the opportunity for regular first-team football in the English Championship, a platform he hopes to use to further refine his game and showcase the qualities that earned him a move to Brighton.
With Birmingham City aiming to build momentum in the second half of the season, Osman will be looking to make a swift and lasting impression at St Andrew’s.
