Ghanaian forward Ransford Yeboah-Konigsdorffer is looking to build on his recent red-hot form in the German Bundesliga after scoring in back-to-back matches for Hamburger SV.
The Black Stars striker played a key role in Hamburger SV’s thrilling 3-2 home win over Union Berlin on Saturday, scoring a brace to secure the three points at Volksparkstadion. His momentum follows a solid performance against Heidenheim, where he opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory.
“I was obviously really happy about it. I hope I can take that feeling into the next games now,” said the 24-year-old attacker, reflecting on his recent performances.
Before this purple patch, Yeboah-Konigsdorffer had only found the net once in the Bundesliga, leading to scrutiny from fans.
“It’s clear that my goal return so far hasn’t been good enough. Sometimes you make the wrong decisions, sometimes you lack a bit of luck, or you don’t get into the right positions,” he admitted.
“I can definitely hold my hands up and say I’ve had enough chances and could have scored more goals. Now it’s about making better decisions in the future so that more goals follow.”
Despite the earlier criticisms, he remains focused on proving his worth:
“I don’t see everything and I don’t read everything, but of course there’s been some criticism and even a bit of hate. A lot of people still don’t believe in me. I hope I can change that view and show what I’m really capable of. But honestly, that criticism doesn’t interest me that much. What really matters is the trust and backing of the people close to me—my coaching staff, teammates, and family.”
Yeboah-Konigsdorffer, who played a pivotal role in Hamburger SV’s promotion last season, hopes this current run will kickstart a sustained scoring streak and help the team push further up the Bundesliga standings.
