The 25-year-old defender has saw his transfer switch to the Italian top-flight side annulled given a reported complication over his health conditions

Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso has reportedly failed his medical examinations with Serie A outfit AS Roma, with the setback bringing an end to his long-awaited move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

The Capital-based club cited a complication over his health before backing out for his services ahead of the transfer deadline day.

That notwithstanding, RC Lens have taken strong exception over the failed transfer deal of their trusted stopper with the Italian side in a strong-worded statement: "In close talks with AS Roma after a full agreement was reached with Racing, Kevin Danso will not join the club from the Louve."

"The long interpretation of a medical examination is at the origin of this aborted transfer. The club is wondering about the deep reasons for the non-validation of this movement for a meticulously monitored player who has played more than 30 matches on French and international pitches. He maintains his absolute confidence in his defensive rock, whom he will be happy to find again tomorrow and who will be subject to an adapted protocol before wearing the blood and gold colours again."

A total transfer fee of €25m including add-ons was agreed between RC Lens and Roma over the transfer move of the Ghanaian rearguard - with a year loan stint expected to take effect in the just started football campaign.

Born and raised to Ghanaian parents in Austria, Danso remains ineligible to represent Ghana at the international level as he's been cap-tied by the Austrian senior national team.
