Ghana’s Kudus Mohammed exhibited a top-tier performance in his first competitive game for Tottenham Hotspur and was very close to becoming the second Ghanaian to win the UEFA Super Cup but painfully lost the title in the end.
The Londoners gave away a two-goal lead to play out a painful 2-2 draw against reigning European champions Paris Saint Germain in regulation time, in what was a very intriguing final at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy.
After finishing the halftime with a goal advantage courtesy Micky van de Ven, it didn’t take much for Tottenham Hotspur to double their lead having scored in just three minutes from recess through Argentine defender Christian Romero.
However, goals from South Korean international Kang-in Lee and Gonçalo Ramos in the last five minutes got the Parisians back on level terms and went on to win 4-3 via penalty shootout to become the first French side to achieve that
Kudus Mohammed, enjoyed a great preseason and his performance last night indicates he’s gelled and bonded very well at his new club, having created the free kick that lead to their first goal and also came off the woodwork before making way for Mathys Tel in the 79th minute
Speaking on TNT Sports last night, former English international and Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoodle described Kudus as a player with so much potential and will be very great when he works on few things in his game
“He's got such good talent, such quick feet, and you can see his qualities there. The added ingredient for him as a player is consistency.
“A lot of my West Ham fans, and I have quite a lot, have said to me, "Thank you for taking him, Glenn." So I don’t know about that. The first year, I thought he was excellent. The second year, they’re telling me he didn’t do so well. But he looks like he’s got a lot of potential, I’ve got to say.
“Sometimes, I look at dribblers and I like what they do, but can they dribble and play with their head up? That is the key for me. Can he also play with his head up? That’s the next progression for him. And I think if he does, he could be a real asset for Tottenham.”
Kudus Mohammed is looking forward to getting another starting berth against Burnley this weekend in their opening fixture of the 2025/26 English Premier League season
