"lf you don't have money, you don't even have to call," Darmstadt fires warning to Patric Pfeiffer's admirers

The versatile rearguard of Ghanaian descent is currently being courted by elite division sides in Germany, but a caveat has been issued to admirers over his chase by his employers 

SV Darmstadt 98 have served notice that  it would take an astronomical fee to prise away German-born Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer in the upcoming summer transfer window, with suitors told "lf you don't have money, you don't even have to call," for his services.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been a consistent performer in the set-up of the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor outfit since joining them in July 2019 from Hamburger SV.

A host of Bundesliga clubs have been credited with a move for his services this summer - with FC Cologne tipped to be his likely destination as per reports from the German media.

In refuting claims of approach over Pfeiffer, Darmstadt sporting director Carsten Wehlmann has said his side have no intention of cashing in on their prized asset, adding he gets "devastated" with questions of transfer rumours linking the centre-back to suitors ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

"We have not the slightest interest in selling players, after all, our goal is continuity. So I'm completely devastated," Wehlmann fired to Newspaper Bild 

He continued, "If a club should contact us, which incidentally has not happened yet, then these numbers should be in a financial region that is extremely attractive for us. If you don't have money in your pocket, you don't even have to call."

The former Hamburger SV youth product was once again at his usual best this term after featuring in 31 league games for the Die Lilien in the just ended campaign.

The Hamburg-born centre-back is still eligible to play for Ghana at the international stage despite featuring for the German U18 & U19 national youth teams.
