The talented winger of Ghanaian parentage, who turned down a national team call-up from Liberia during the October international break in 2025, has now opened up about his options to represent any of the countries he qualifies to play for on the international stage
London-born Ghanaian youngster Charles Sagoe Jr has talked about the possibility of switching national allegiance by representing Ghana at the international level in the not-too-distant future over his international football career.
The promising youngster, currently with Arsenal U21 side, is eligible to play for either Ghana or Liberia through his patrilineal and matrilineal lineage respectively, with the England senior national team also possible by birth.
That notwithstanding, after declining the opportunity to represent Liberia, the former Swansea City loanee has now decided to keep his options open when it comes to playing international football at the senior national team level.
Speaking in an interview, the talented youngster has told GOAL: ''I’m always blessed to see recognition from the countries that I'm from,” he said. “Liberia is from my mum's side. I'm forever grateful that they've supported me and it seems that what I'm doing is really standing out to them.
"So, I'm grateful to have that opportunity on the cards and I'm just going to keep on ticking away wherever I'm playing. I’m just going to try and perform to the highest level that I can perform at and hopefully more things come from that."
On the international stage, the London-born winger is yet to represent any of the countries at any level when it comes to national team assignments.
