Last week, the former Sunderland striker hanged up his boots, marking the end of a career spanning two decades after picking up several league titles with individual awards, going ahead to represent Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, and in seven Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, helping them finish in third-place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
Kofi Adu and Gyan played on the same pitch on October 11, 2016 while making his debut for Ghana against South Africa.
"Thank you for the sacrifices, love and affection for the nation and an inspiration to me and many others across the globe, you are indeed a legend and I celebrate you, I pray for a long life as you have hang your boots. I am proud of you legend. Enjoy retirement," he posted on his official Twitter handle.
