Ghana international Salis Abdul Samed has sealed a three-year move to French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old joins Nice in a €2.5 million deal from RC Lens, who will retain a sell-on percentage in any future transfer. His arrival is part of the club’s aggressive push to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season, following their struggles in the Champions League qualifiers against Benfica.
Samed spent last season on loan at English Championship side Sunderland, where he endured a challenging campaign plagued by persistent injuries. Despite being limited to just 11 appearances, he played a role in the Black Cats’ late-season surge that secured promotion to the Premier League.
However, Sunderland opted not to retain him for their top-flight return, and with no future at Lens—where he had been out of favour—Samed has now taken on a new challenge with Nice.
The former Clermont Foot midfielder will be looking to reignite his career and recapture the form that once made him one of the most promising midfielders in Ligue 1.
