The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has sealed his transfer move to the Czech Republic top division outfit, with his current deal set to run through until 2028

German-born Ghanaian midfielder Dennis Owusu has joined Czech First League side FC Baník Ostrava on a three-year deal from German Regionalliga club SGV Freiberg, the club have confirmed.

The former Mainz 05 youth product, who is linking up with the Městský stadion outfit, could be spending time with both the first team and the Reserve side of the Czech top-flight side as to when the need arises as being indicated by the club's sporting director.

''Baník is expanding its squad with another new name. The club has agreed on a three-year contract with attacking winger Dennis Owusu, who came from German SGV Freiberg,'' an official statement over his signing read.

Sporting director  Luděk Mikloško commented on the signing of the 24-year-old via the club's official website: ''His dominant side is definitely speed, but he is also a technically gifted player who can assert himself in one-on-one duels or make the final pass. We scouted him for some time, we went to Germany to watch him and we agreed that he is an interesting type of player who is worth working with.''

He added: ''Of course, now it will also depend on how he manages the transition to a different competition and a new environment, a different style of play and how he will behave in matches against more advanced teams. But he has the prerequisites and we will try to gradually build him in. There is also, of course, the possibility of being useful towards the B team, but at this stage he will start with the A team and will also fly to Turkey for a training camp."

Given his Ghanaian root, Owusu remains fit to play for Ghana on the international stage as he's yet to be cap-tied by the German national team.
