The 23-year-old forward of Ghanaian origin has joined the German top-tier side on a season-long loan deal from his French mother club in this ongoing transfer window
German Bundesliga side VfL Bochum have announced the loan signing of Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Myron Boadu from French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
Announcing the deal, those in charge of the Ruhrstadion have said their terms with the former AZ Alkmaar goal poacher could be made permanent upon its expiration at the end of the 2024/25 football campaign.
"The next new player from the neighboring country: VfL Bochum 1848 is loaning Myron Boadu. The 23-year-old Dutchman is coming to Castroper Strasse from AS Monaco for one year. The loan includes a purchase option for VfL. Last season, the striker was loaned to FC Twente Enschede in the Eredivisie. Boadu will wear the number 9 at VfL," an official confirmation over the loan deal read.
Right after putting pen to paper, the forward had this to say: "I've heard a lot about the Bundesliga and the fantastic atmosphere in the stadiums. It's supposed to be breathtaking, especially in Bochum. I can hardly wait for the first home game. My goal is to settle in here as quickly as possible and to bring my qualities to the team."
Sporting director Marc Lettau added: "Myron is exactly the type of player we were looking for: a dynamic and powerful striker, technically adept and strong in finishing."
Boadu will hope his move to the German top-flight will help him to rediscover his form given his torrid times with his current French owners since linking up with them during the 2023/24 football campaign.
He still remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Netherlands senior national team given the Fifa rules on national allegiance switch.
