Ghanaian young attacker Prince Amoako Junior made a memorable dream debut for FC Nordsjaelland by scoring and providing an assist in the 2025–26 Danish Super Liga opening games.

FC Nordsjaelland had to stage an early comeback to secure a 3-2 away victory over FC Fredericia in the matchday one fixture of the Danish Superliga. Gustav Marcussen fired the newly promoted side to the lead in the first minute of the game.

Amoako Junior, who was making his debut for FC Nordsjaelland in today's game, delivered a masterclass performance by levelling the score in the 5th minute after making good use of a pass from his compatriot Caleb Yerenkyi.

The 18-year-old was a delight to watch as he kept dazzling the backline of the hosts with his pace and dribbles, latching a pass to Norwegian youngster Sindre Walle Egeli to give Nordsjaelland a 2-1 lead in the 15th minute.

Coach Jens Olsen's side continued their impressive performance by extending their lead through a fine strike from Peter Ankersen in the 36th minute, ending the first half of the encounter with a 3-1 lead.

In the second half, FC Fredericia were desperate to at least secure a point to have a bright start to their 2025–26 season's campaign, having earned a promotion to the top-flight league competition after finishing in second place in the second-tier competition last season.

The home side scored their second goal through Frederik Rieper in the 82nd minute, but it was ruled out after a lengthy VAR check.

Despite their goal being ruled out, FC Fredericia stood resolute to fight back, but their only goal in the remaining minutes was netted by Patrick Egelund in the 85th minute, which ended the match in a 3-2 victory for the visitors – FC Nordsjaelland – to commence their campaign with a narrow win.

Prince Amoako Junior – A Ghanaian new star emerging from FC Nordsjaelland

Amoako Junior has been tipped as the next big thing in European football following his explosive performances for the Right to Dream Academy during the 2024 Gothia Cup, where he delivered an incredible output with his teammates, helping the Ghanaian side to clinch the ultimate title.

In this last six seasons, FC Nordsjaelland and the Right to Dream Academy has developed a lot of Ghanaian talents into global stars and the list of players include Mohammed Kudus (Tottenham), Kamaldeen Sulemana (Atalanta BC), Ernest Nuamah (Olympique Lyon), Osman Ibrahim (Brighton and Hove Albion, on loan at Auxerre), Simon Adingra (Sunderland), Mohamed Diomande (Rangers), and others.

Earlier this year, the Accra-born player arrived in Denmark to sign a contract to keep him at FC Nordsjaelland until the summer of 2029 after turning 18 years old in February.

The 18-year-old couldn't team up with his former mates at Right to Dream Academy, such as Caleb Yerenkyi, Araphat Mohammed, Issaka Seidu and Samuel Acquah, in the second round of the Danish Super Liga due to an injury.

After recovering from the injury and having undergone a pre-season with Jens Olsen and his technical team, Amoako Junior was handed a starting berth and lasted for 66 minutes before he was replaced by Zidan Sertdemir.

He was chased by several European clubs after the 2024 Gothia Cup, but he opted for Right to Dream Academy's affiliated club, FC Nordsjaelland, and signed a four-year contract.

Amoako is yet to earn a call-up to play for Ghana at any level.
