The German tactician has said the 22-year-old defender still has some challenges to deal with in terms of adaption at the Volkswagen Arena, but are working on his progress for his integration into their set-up going forward
VfL Wolfsburg boss Daniel Bauer has jumped to the defence of Ghana international Jonas Adjetey after being questioned for his signing during the January transfer window.
After arriving from Swiss Super League side FC Basel this winter, the centre-back has already seen eyebrows being raised over his adaptation, with a cameo game time in the Bundesliga already taken in so far this season.
However, the man on the touchline at the Volkswagen Arena has moved to clarify the situation of the Ghanaian youngster by insisting that ''the focus is on developing him and integrating him into the team through training'' given the pedigree of the last league he featured in before he was snapped up this January.
The 43-year-old tactician said of the 22-year-old defender to Kicker: ''Jonas comes from a smaller league, is a very exciting player, but naturally still has some issues to address. Especially in our current situation, the focus is on developing him and integrating him into the team through training."
With this marquee move to the Bundesliga and the 2026 World Cup looming, the defender would surely be in contention to make the cut for the June global football event with the Ghana senior men's national team as he currently boasts of 7 caps with the African powerhouse on the international stage.
