Manchester United in a quest to fend off interest from other clubs are planning to extend the contract of young sensation Kobbie Mainoo in the next coming weeks.
Ghanaian defender Dennis Appiah has expressed his excitement after helping Saint-Etienne secure promotion back to the French Ligue 1. Appiah played a crucial role on Sunday when Saint-Etienne triumphed over Metz in the Ligue 1 final playoff at the Stade Saint Symphorien, ensuring their return to the top flight.
Prior to the return leg at Metz, Saint-Etienne had secured a 2-1 victory on home turf in the crucial playoff match. In the second leg, the former Nantes defender played the full 90 minutes as his team drew 2-2 with Metz.
Metz initially held a two-goal lead, but Saint-Etienne staged a remarkable comeback to force the game into extra time. Ultimately, Saint-Etienne secured their qualification with a 4-3 aggregate score and will compete in Ligue 1 next season.
Reflecting on the journey, Appiah recalled, "I just remember that a year and a half ago, when I presented myself at a press conference when we were twentieth, I was told, 'What the hell are you doing here? You're not better in Nantes?' I only had one idea in mind, which was to experience what we were experiencing there."
Appiah added, "We can be proud of what we did. We struggled. But we did it to experience all that. We struggled for two years but that's why I came. As we had predicted, Ibra' (Wadji) is having a tough season and he's the one who brings us up."
Saint-Etienne's promotion marks a significant achievement for the team, highlighting their perseverance and determination throughout the challenging season.
Ghanaian forward Kwasi Okyere Wriedt is poised to depart Holstein Kiel as the club aims to offload him before their inaugural season in the German Bundesliga.
Wriedt, 29, had an underwhelming loan spell at Osnabrück last season, featuring in only 24 games and managing just one goal and one assist.
Out of these appearances, he started in only 10 matches, struggling to make a significant impact with the newly-promoted Osnabrück in Germany's second tier. Osnabrück finished the season at the bottom of the league, resulting in their relegation to the third tier.
Meanwhile, in Wriedt's absence, Holstein Kiel finished second in the Bundesliga 2, earning automatic promotion to the Bundesliga.
With only one year remaining on his contract, which expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, Holstein Kiel is not considering another loan option for Wriedt due to his contract situation, according to kicker.
Randers FC is set to make Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini's loan move permanent following his impressive performance at the end of the season.
This transition is facilitated by a purchase option included in Fuseini's loan agreement. According to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, the fee is comparable to Stephen Odey’s transfer clause from a few years ago, estimated at around 5-6 million kroner.
Despite this clear option, Randers might attempt to negotiate a lower fee. Fuseini had limited playtime with Sturm Graz in the fall, recording just 95 minutes in the league across 11 substitute appearances, along with a few matches in European competitions and domestic cups.
There is a risk that larger clubs might attempt to acquire Fuseini, reminiscent of Stephen Odey’s 2021/2022 season when he attracted interest from wealthier teams. Nevertheless, Randers FC managed to secure Odey on a permanent deal despite the competition.
Max Hagmayr, Fuseini’s agent, confirmed that returning to SK Sturm Graz, where Fuseini is contracted until 2026, is not part of their plans.
Randers FC’s track record of successfully selling players like Filip Bundgaard, Simon Graves, and Lasse Berg Johnsen could make the club an attractive option for Fuseini and his agent.
The buyout clause in the loan agreement is exclusive to Randers, preventing other Danish or foreign clubs from making a direct offer to Sturm Graz to bypass Randers.
Since joining Randers FC in January, Mohammed Fuseini has scored seven goals, underscoring his value to the team and making a strong case for his permanent transfer.
KF Egnatia Rrogozhinë's president, Agim Demrozi, has made a heartfelt announcement: the club's forthcoming stadium will be named in tribute to the late Raphael Dwamena, a former striker who left an indelible mark on the team.
Dwamena joined the Albanian side in December 2022, signing a contract that was later extended to two years.
Tragically, his life was cut short in November when he collapsed during a league match against Partizani, losing consciousness in the 23rd minute. Despite immediate medical attention, Dwamena sadly passed away upon arrival at the hospital.
In honor of his memory and contributions to the team, the club has decided to name their new stadium after the 28-year-old striker.
This gesture serves as a testament to Dwamena's impact on the club and his enduring legacy in the world of football.
