Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei, has expressed satisfaction after their game against Benin despite failing to claim the maximum three points in the ongoing 2024 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship.
The two-time WAFU champions got held by the Young Cheetahs to a pulsating 2-2 draw in their opening game last Thursday night at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé.
Jerry Afriyie opened the scoring account in the 13th minute but the Beninese subsequently scored twice courtesy goals from Modeste Kounodji and Gabriel Moulero to lead 2-1 at half time.
In the dying embers, Jerry scored again to get Ghana back on level pegging from the spot and also sealed his brace.
Speaking in a post-match presser, the enterprising gaffer feels very satisfied with the results having moved from a brink of a despair to securing what was a crucial point in their opening fixture of the competition.
"With a bit of luck today, we should have gotten the three points but all in all I’m really happy with the one point. Because for me this one point is actual a three point if you know what I mean. How we had to think really deep and how that penalty came, so all in all we’re very happy with the point."
The Black Satellites will face Niger next in a 'must win' game on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the same venue.
