Black Satellites tactician Desmond Ofei, has confessed their semi-final game against Cote d'Ivoire was a very tedious one especially conceding first and feels they give out too many easy goals and is something they should work on.
The Satellites came from a goal down to edge the Young Elephants by 2-1 in the first semi final of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship and have now advanced to the final.
FC Sheriff Tiraspol young forward Konan Loukou brilliantly gave Ivory Coast the deserving lead after a defensive error of the Ghana U20 team.
Ghana had the breakthrough to level the score when Ivorian midfielder Isaac Cissé headed a corner-kick effected by Hayford Adu Boahen into his own net on the stroke of halftime before Jerry Afriyie converted a second half penalty to seal the win.
Reacting to the final and 2024 AFCON qualification, the enterprising gaffer has heaped praises on his players for what he described as deserved qualification and is definitely setting his sights on nothing but the trophy.
“It was a difficult game, we didn’t start great. Ivory Coast is a good team and they had a plan," he said.
"They had some changes that we didn’t expect, but in the end, we had to fight. Looking at all our games, it wasn’t easy and the goals we gave away too easily. But we came back very strong and we deserve this win for sure”, he said.
Following the victory, Ghana has qualified for the next edition of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations after missing out on the last edition staged in Egypt.
The Black Satellites will face sworn rivals Nigeria in the final on Wednesday, October 30, at the Stade du Kague in Lomé.
