Ghana defender Alidu Seidu is optimistic about the Black Stars' prospects as they prepare for their crucial matches against Sudan in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Seidu believes that the recent 1-1 draw against Niger will serve as a valuable lesson for the team as they aim to secure vital points in their upcoming doubleheader.
"Now there’s Sudan coming, and playing 1-1 against Niger will serve as a lesson for us. We are going to give everything to beat Sudan home and away," Seidu asserted in an interview with Flashscore.
Reflecting on the performance against Niger, Seidu acknowledged the team's slow start. "We didn’t start well against Niger. We lost a lot of balls," he said. Despite scoring his debut goal for the national team, Seidu expressed mixed feelings about the moment.
"When I scored, I wasn’t too happy because I knew we could do better. Playing in Africa means that scoring one is never enough. If it had been the second goal I had scored, I would have celebrated more; but it was 1-0, and I was already thinking about us getting the second."
As the team gears up for the matches against Sudan, Seidu is aware that emotions will run high, especially with the pressure to secure wins. "Tempers will be high for the Sudan game, but there’s no pressure. I will try to give everything and enjoy football so that people are happy,” he concluded.
With only one point from their first two games, the Black Stars must approach the matches against Sudan with determination and focus to revive their qualification hopes for the tournament scheduled to be held in Morocco.
