FC Samartex striker Michael Ephson, who just won gold with the Black Satellites in the just-ended African Games, received a guard of honour from his teammates at his first training since the glory.

The four-time African champions defied all odds to clinch gold in men football after nipping on Jerry Afriyie's late goal to edge Uganda 1-0 in the final last week.

However, one of the talents that were noticed at the competition was Samartex FC striker Michael Ephson, who managed to get the spotlight despite not being a starter after scoring only goal in the semi final against Senegal.

Now on his return to Samreboi, the 20-year-old lanky striker presented his gold medal and jerseys to the founder of Samartex FC, Mr. Richard Duah Nsenkyire and General Manager Mr. Edmund Ackah.

He joined his teammates at training today at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex and was given a warm reception and also a guard of honour since he is the first player in the club's history to achieve this.

The Timber Giants after an important 2-1 win over giants Hearts of Oak, have maintained their top-spot on the league with 42 points after 23 matches.

They will host champions Medeama SC in another crunchy clash on Sunday, April 7, on home soil.
