Black Queens winger Princess Marfo has expressed confidence that Ghana will rise to the occasion as they face Egypt in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana take on Egypt in the first leg in Suez on Thursday, October 23, before hosting the return fixture in Accra on Sunday.
The Black Queens are determined to secure qualification and return to the continent’s premier women’s competition, having finished third at the previous edition in Morocco.
Speaking ahead of the first leg, FC Nordsjælland star Marfo said preparations have been intense and the team is ready to deliver.
“Training has been really serious, it’s been very detailed, and we can’t wait to start the game because we know how important this game is for us,” she told GFA Media.
“I believe with the preparation that we would go far.”
Marfo also urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they seek a crucial advantage in Suez.
“Obviously, the fans would play a big impact in our performances, so we pray that they have hope in us, to pray for us — and yeah, we will do our best to deliver,” she added.
A positive result in Egypt would put the Black Queens in pole position to book their place at WAFCON 2026.
