Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo says he’s confident Ghana can make a real impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the current squad has the quality and unity to go far.
The four-time African champions sealed qualification for their fifth World Cup appearance after topping Group I with 25 points99. Ghana famously reached the quarterfinals in 2010 but failed to advance from the group stage in both 2014 and 2022.
After missing out on next year’s AFCON, Sibo believes the team’s resurgence and chemistry will make a difference in North America.
“This team can really achieve big in the World Cup,” Sibo told JoySports. “The [players] I’ve trained with are doing well at their various clubs in Europe.
“This team is more united, and when a team is united, it’s really hard to beat. We’re all together, making jokes, and that makes a team really strong.”
Sibo, who plays for Real Oviedo in Spain, has been a regular cog for the Black Stars in recent matches, featuring against Mali, Central African Republic, and Comoros.
With the USA, Canada, and Mexico set to host the 2026 tournament, the midfielder is expected to make Ghana’s final squad and will be aiming to impress in November’s Asian tour against Japan and South Korea as the team steps up its World Cup preparations.
