The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has terminated the contract of the Black Stars head coach with just less than three months to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana coach Otto Addo has been sacked by the country's football governing following a back-to-back defeats in the Pre-World Cup friendlies against Austria and Germany.
The 50-year-old gaffer, who was reappointed to lead the four-time African champions in 2024, has been relieved off his role as the head coach of the team after a 2-1 defeat to Germany at the MPH Arena on Monday evening.
The decision to part ways with Addo came after a crunchy meeting between the top hierarchy of the GFA and the Sports Ministry in Stuttgart, Germany after the match.

The statement from ten Ghana FA reads: “The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo effective immediately."

Addo spent his entire playing career in Germany but won 15 international caps for Ghana and featured at the 2006 World Cup.
Ghana have been paired with England, Croatia and Panama for the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be hosted in USA, Canada and Mexico this summer.
