Ghana international Christopher Baah Bonsu has expressed immense pride and gratitude after helping the Black Stars secure qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the moment as a “dream come true.”
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who recently completed a move from KRC Genk to Al Qadsia in Saudi Arabia, was part of the Ghanaian squad that clinched a narrow 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium to seal a place at next year’s global showpiece, which will be staged in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Baah Bonsu made a substitute appearance in the crucial encounter, which saw Mohammed Kudus score the decisive goal in the 47th minute to send Ghana top of Group I with 25 points from 10 matches.
Reflecting on the achievement, Baah Bonsu shared a heartfelt message with fans and teammates:
“Qualifying for the World Cup is a dream come true — a moment filled with pride, joy, and countless sacrifices. This achievement is not just mine; it belongs to every supporter, every teammate, and everyone who believed in us. Together, we have shown the world the strength of our spirit and the heart of our nation. Thank you, Ghana.”
The Black Stars topped their group ahead of Madagascar (19 points) and Mali (18 points), with Comoros and Central African Republic finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Chad ended bottom of the table with just a single point.
The 2026 World Cup will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the tournament and their second consecutive qualification under coach Otto Addo, who also led the team to Qatar 2022.
Set to feature an expanded 48-team format, the 2026 edition will give Africa a record nine automatic qualification slots, offering the Black Stars another opportunity to make a deep run after their historic quarterfinal finish in 2010.
Ghana will discover their group-stage opponents on December 5, 2025, when the official World Cup draw is held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
