Coach Nana Agyemang has shared his perspective on the challenges facing Asante Kotoko, attributing a significant portion of the issues to the club's life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Despite being a revered figure, Otumfuo's involvement is seen by some as a hindrance rather than a help, especially considering the club's recent struggles both domestically and in continental competitions.

Asante Kotoko, once dominant in Ghanaian football, has faced a decline in performance over the past nine years, clinching only one Ghana Premier League title during that period. Additionally, their performance in continental competitions has failed to meet expectations.

The current season has been particularly disappointing for the team, with just two wins in 10 matches. This lackluster performance has left Prosper Narteh Ogum's side languishing in 10th place on the league table, with 36 points, perilously close to the relegation zone.

In an interview with JoySports, Coach Nana Agyemang drew a comparison with other renowned clubs like Manchester United, emphasizing that their patrons do not play as prominent a role as Otumfuo does with Asante Kotoko.

Agyemang expressed concerns about the club's management structure, suggesting that competent individuals should be overseeing its affairs. However, he feels that achieving such a setup is challenging due to the influence of Otumfuo and the lobbying process involved in selecting management members.

Following the dissolution of the previous management team led by CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah, Otumfuo established an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to take charge of the club's operations. This committee comprises notable individuals such as Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, Akwasi Appiah, Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi.

Agyemang's remarks highlight the ongoing debate within the Kotoko community regarding the club's governance structure and the extent of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's involvement in its management. These discussions reflect the desire for effective leadership and decision-making processes to propel the club back to its former glory.
