Jordan Ayew has called on his Black Stars teammates to fully embrace the long-term vision set by head coach Otto Addo and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as the team navigates a crucial rebuilding phase.
The Leicester City forward, who is expected to captain Ghana in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, stressed the need for patience and unity as the squad evolves.
“We don’t have the same team we had between 2006 and 2019. In 2010, the transition was seamless because the U-20 players joined a squad that already had a strong core,” Ayew told Joy Sports. “At the end of the day, it’s football, and I feel the coach and the GFA have a long-term plan. We need to respect it and adapt.”
The Black Stars completed their final training session today ahead of their crucial clash against Chad on Friday, March 22, at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A win would strengthen Ghana’s position in the qualifiers as they push toward securing a World Cup spot.
