Ghana’s football authorities have held a crisis meeting with the Black Stars technical team following their heavy loss to Austria, urging an improved display in their next match against Germany.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) met head coach Otto Addo and his staff over the weekend after the team’s 5-1 defeat in an international friendly in Vienna on Friday.
The match which was played at the Ernst Happel Stadium, has raised concerns about Ghana’s form and readiness ahead of future matches.
Austria took control early in the game and went ahead in the 12th minute when Marcel Sabitzer scored from the penalty spot after a handball by defender Jonas Adjetey.

The home side added to their lead in the second half through Michael Gregoritsch and Stefan Posch as they put the game beyond reach.
Ghana pulled one goal back in the 77th minute through captain Jordan Ayew but Austria quickly responded. Substitute Carney Chukwuemeka scored a fourth before Nicolas Seiwald added a fifth in stoppage time to complete a dominant win.
Following the defeat, GFA officials and members of the Management Committee met the technical team and called for a strong reaction in upcoming matches, especially against Germany tonight.

Kickgh.com understands that the position of coach Otto Addo could come under review if performances do not improve.
Ghana now turn their attention to their next friendly against Germany in Stuttgart later tonight (Monday), where they will be hoping to respond positively.
The friendly matches form part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana are also scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in further friendlies in May and June before the tournament, where they will compete in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
