Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has made a trip to the Northern Region for the first time to watch the FA Cup quarter-final game between Real Tamale United and Nsoatreman FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
Hughton, who confirmed during his official unveiling in Kumasi last month that he will be monitoring the local football, has been spotted at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday evening.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion manager was at Dawu on Friday afternoon to watch the FA Cup fixture where Dreams FC scored an extra-time to eliminate Legon Cities from the competition.
The experienced tactician commenced his monitoring of locally based footballers in the Ghana Premier League fixture between Great Olympics and Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He then made a trip to the Baba Yara Stadium to watch the Black Meteors clash against Algeria in the 2023 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers. A game Meteors secured a 2-1 goal aggregate to book a place in the tournament that will be hosted in Morocco later this year in June.
In an outstanding game between Asante Kotoko and King Faisal on Wednesday, the former Spurs manager was in Kumasi to watch the game.
His trip to Tamale for the FA Cup game between RTU and Nsoatreman FC was accompanied by Black Stars assistant coach, Didi Dramani and Team Manager, Mohamed Ameenu Shardow.
Hughton was named as replacement for Otto Addo who left his role as Black Stars head coach following the West African nation's group stage elimination at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Irish-born Ghanaian gaffer guided Black Stars to pick four points in last month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Angola.
Hughton is expected to monitor the other FA Cup matches slated for Sunday and Monday. Skyy FC will host Ebusua Dwarfs while Aduana Stars battle it out with King Faisal FC for a semi-final spot at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Kumasi.
