The nation's football governing body supremo has expressed his concerns about the physical harm that has bedevilled the current squad of the four-time African champions ahead of the upcoming global football event next month 

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku has posited that the current injuries to key Black Stars players are worrying ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With the quadrennial football event on the horizon, the west African powerhouse key cog stars including; Mohammed Kudus, Tariq Lamptey and Abu Francis are all facing fitness issues, with AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu completely ruled of the tournament.

ln expressing his lamentation over the physical health conditions of the above-mentioned players, the Ghana FA boss still remains optimistic that the Ghana national football team would deliver the goods at the Mundial given the arrival of experienced and tactical Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz.

Speaking on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver over the weekend, the CAF 2nd Vice-President has told Footie Centre: ''I know we have some challenges with injuries to key players.'' He continued; ''When I look at the list, it's quite worrying, but I derive my positivity from the fact that there is something in the Ghanaian; the indomitable spirit of the Ghanaian will always come up when the chips are so low, and I would want to believe that, with the unity of purpose that has been demonstrated by the entire nation as a result of the arrival of coach Carlos Queiroz, it would arouse extra energy in the Ghanaian player, to the 12th man, and we will find the right level of energy to be competitive.''

Carlos Queiroz and his troops  would come up against Mexico and Wales in a Pre-World Cup friendlies on May 22, 2026 and June 2, 2026 respectively.

Ghana have been paired alongside England, Croatia and Panama in group L. However, they face Panama on June 17, 2026 for their group stage opener, and then comes up against England on June 23, 2026 for their second game encounter, with Croatia being the last opponent for the group phase fixtures on June 27, 2026.
