Newly-appointed Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has claimed with so much optimism that Ghana will make it to the 2026 World Cup if he gets the full squad throughout the campaign.
The Borussia Dortmund trainer has returned to the Black Stars job, and this time on a long-term deal as he is set to depart the Signal Iduna permanently in the summer for his new job.
He came in as the replacement for experience manager Chris Hughton who got jettisoned after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations early this year due to poor performance.
Last Friday, Otto played his first game since his return and suffered a 2-1 loss against sworn rivals Nigeria in a friendly and will take on Uganda later today.
However, the big challenge starts in June as he prepares to face Mali and Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and will definitely be under a huge pressure if he doesn't prevail in those matches.
Speaking on that task, Otto Addo strongly believes if he gets the key players of the team fully fit by summer and throughout the qualifiers, he will qualify Ghana to the Mundial, just as he did in 2022.
"It’s going to be tough; this is for sure, nothing easy. Buy when I see the boys it really, really gives me big, big hopes that what we did against Nigeria especially in the second half, we can do it against any opponent, I know. They have to be concentrated, they have to be smart. I am looking forward to the players who are coming back like Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, they will give the team more stability and we will be best prepared."
Ghana will things up this mid-afternoon when they face Uganda at the Stade de Marrakech at 16:00GMT.
