Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says the Black Stars are determined to make a meaningful impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team’s ambitions go beyond mere participation.
Adams’ comments come after Ghana’s 5–0 win over the Central African Republic in Meknes, Morocco, a result that leaves the Black Stars on the brink of qualification for next year’s tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Buem Member of Parliament hailed the team’s performance, describing it as evidence of renewed belief and unity within the camp. Adams, however, drew parallels with Ghana’s celebrated 2010 World Cup campaign in South Africa, where the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals.
“I think this time around also, we will not just go to the World Cup to just add to the numbers,” Adams said.
“We want to go there and let people feel our presence, just the same way they did in South Africa in 2010. We want the world to feel our presence.”
The Black Stars will conclude their qualification campaign with a decisive home fixture against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, knowing that a positive result would seal their return to the global showpiece.
